Brain Chemistry Profile

In the HPA (Hypothalamus/Pituitary/Adrenal) Profile Test, saliva and urine specimens are used to assess the patients’ neurotransmitter and adrenal hormone biomarkers with this non-invasive laboratory test. Six primary urinary neurotransmitters are tested: Serotonin, GABA, Glutamate, Dopamine, Norepinephrine, and Epinephrine. Salivary adrenal hormones are also measured: 4 timed Cortisols and 2 DHEA-s.

Together with a detailed patient questionnaire of symptoms the results of the neurotransmitter levels and hormone biomarkers are assessed and a thorough expert correlation analysis report is generated. The HPA Profile test is a unique and comprehensive assessment that minimizes the ‘guesswork’ when it comes to treatment, allowing the physician to recommend a comprehensive therapeutic protocol that will ultimately provide the most positive outcome for the patient and minimal or no side effects to treatment. Based on the results, there can be different therapeutic options – allowing for a specific and targeted approach using, alone or in combination, pharmaceutical medications and/or natural supplements.
