
Naturopathic Physician & Founder
Dr. Sharon Gurm completed her BSc in Cell Biology and Genetics at the University of British Columbia. Always an avid athlete, she was a member of the UBC varsity and BC Provincial field hockey teams. While completing her undergraduate degree, she began a research position at the BC Cancer Agency which she continued for 2 more years prior to commencing 4-year doctorate in naturopathic medicine at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicin in Toronto, Ontario.
Dr. Gurm began private practice in 2006. In 2007, she founded Port Moody Naturopathic Health & Wellness – a progressive and innovative medical clinic providing patient-centered care. In 2008, the clinic was expanded to accommodate the growth and integrate additional health care services to better serve their patients with a ‘whole-person’ and patinent-centered health care approach.
As a licensed Naturopathic Physician, Dr. Gurm holds several additional board certifications and continually advances her study of medicine in a lifelong quest to understand the human and environmental elements of health and disease. Dr. Gurm has an established practice in Port Moody with a focus on the treatment of cancer, endocrinology (hormone imbalance), autoimmune and neurological disorders, cardiovascular diseases, Lyme disease and pain disorders.
Dr. Gurm has a strong belief in the body’s innate ability to heal itself. By working with the vital force of the individual using a holistic (whole-person) approach and appropriate application of the fundamental principles of integrative medicine (conventional and naturopathic philosophy), true healing and optimal health can be achieved. She welcomes men and women of all ages to her practice who seek an integrative approach to identify the root cause of illness and treatment utilizing comprehensive assessment tools and evidence-based therapies and other appropriate interventions to support physical, emotional and mind-body healing.

Dr. Gurm maintains balance in her busy life by cultivating daily presence and awareness to nurture her spirituality and self-growth in addition to practicing daily meditation. She loves spending quality time with her beautiful daughter and loving husband and is very physically active – enjoy yoga, pilates, running and resistance training.
Dr. Gurm is deeply passionate about empowerment through awareness and education. Whenever possible, she accepts invitations to speak about various topics pertaining to health, disease and prevention. She has participated in radio and TV interviews and has published work in a peer-reviewed medical journal (NDNR). Many of Dr. Gurm’s articles can be found in various health magazines, online publications and local newspapers. Currently, she and her team are preparing to organize the first ever Pink & Green Ribbon Run in B.C. (Spring 2013) to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer prevention.
